On July 16th, the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities conducted a hearing for many of On Solid Ground Priority bills including the On Solid Ground’s primary focus bill – S.31, An Act Providing For Coordinated Data And Assistance To Address Family Homelessness.
The bill sponsored by Sen. Comerford increases data transparency and system alignment by directing state agencies to report on certain homelessness related measures and their current system coordination efforts to address cliff effects. The bill also makes benefit program information more accessible to families through an agency telephone hotline and website. On Solid Ground Coalition members provided in person and written testimony in support of S.31 Click here for OSG’s testimony on S.31.
OSG Coalition also supported other priorities that would help increase access to resources for families:
- An Act to reduce deep poverty among kids, House Bill 102/An Act to lift children out of deep poverty, Senate Bill 36, fact sheet
- An Act providing immediate childcare assistance to homeless families, H.103/ S.67
